We have 3 laws at District 12 Volleyball:
#1 Sisterhood #2 Get your serves over #3 Fear is the enemy. Trust is the armor Our job is to make sure that students learn to the BEST of their potential. We look for potential in a child. We then show her/him how to shine light on that potential. If a child is a fast learner, we will help her/him gain as much skills and knowledge of the volleyball game as possible. At the same time we will dedicate quality time with a child whom is struggling. ~ Give us a child who still loves volleyball and we will make them great! Long as a student has love and interest for the game we will help that child excel to be as great as the athlete can be. We have experienced coaches with great patience. Rather than tear down a student, we patiently help them fix their mistakes. We make sure they understand their mistakes. We make class fun so that the child looks forward to every class. They look forward to playing. Every child will learn how to win. AND learn how to lose. We believe in morals: Morals of family, morals of respect, morals of their own importance, morals of volleyball. We don't just want our students to do volleyball. We want them to BE volleyball. We do not just coach volleyball. We coach people. 48 out of 54 students made their school teams this year. |
Skill Level & Team Placement
A student will go through months of training before they are placed on a competitive volleyball team. We believe that a child should be properly trained, complete with technique and knowledge of the game before moving into competition. The procedures are as such: 1st Training Session: Beginner students will take part in a 2 month training session. During this session they will learn the basics of volleyball: bumping/passing, Overhand serving (we only teach overhand serving), spiking/hitting and setting. 2nd Training Session: Students will take part in another 2 month training session. During this session they will do a lot of active playing. Such as scrimmaging; while upgrading their volleyball technique and skills. Team Placement: Based on skill level a student will be placed on a club team. We have 3 team skill levels: Local, Regional and National. Local: Players whom are just beginners or need to work on their skill a bit more play at the Local level. We may enter a regional team into these tournaments to get more practice. Sometimes I will place a 12s National team in the 14s division just to challenge them. Regional: The regional teams participate mainly in the local tournaments through AAU and USAV. They may travel outside of the state based on parents choice. National Team: National teams may travel outside of the state 2-3 times. They enter tournaments that are more competitive, including national qualifiers. The National teams are also registered with AAU. Combination Team: During the club season I may put together a "Combination Team". This team is made up of highly skilled players from various teams within the club. Sorta like a pro bowl for volleyball players within the club. The "Combination Team" will play in one tournament. |
